Welcome to Sand Gulch—Where the Law Ain’t the Only Thing Getting Shot Down

The year is 1884, and Sand Gulch, a dusty, godforsaken town on the edge of the frontier, has earned itself a reputation blacker than a gambler’s soul. Once a booming silver mining town, the gulch dried up quicker than a preacher’s whiskey bottle, leaving behind a mess of desperate folks, scoundrels, and those too stubborn—or too sinful—to leave. But fortune’s wheel may be spinning again, for a recent discovery has breathed new life—and more than a little fear—into the hills surrounding Sand Gulch.

A hidden motherlode of silver—rumored to be richer than the Comstock—has been uncovered in a long-abandoned shaft. The problem? Half the town claims to own a piece of it, and the other half is willing to kill for it.

And that ain’t the only trouble rattlin’ chains. As tensions reach their breaking point, the town prepares for the annual Founders’ Day Celebration, a raucous festival of drink, debauchery, and dangerously rigged games of chance. But this year, the streets of Sand Gulch echo with more than fiddle music and gunfire… and before the night is through, someone will join the ranks of the dearly departed.

The weekend kicks off with a rootin’-tootin’ celebration right in the heart of Lakewood, brimmin’ with games of chance, frontier follies, and plenty o’ grub to keep your belly full. But don’t let the hootin’ and hollerin’ fool ya—someone has a hidden agenda in this here town.

Aside from the murder mystery, you will have plenty of downtime to enjoy the amenities Lakewood Lodge has to offer. Think nature hikes, campfires, board games, fishing, and bird watching.

You will receive email updates that detail everything to expect as well as coordinating character assignments. Below is a sample timeline to give you an idea of what to expect throughout the weekend.

THURSDAY

Reserve an additional night to relax in your cabin before all the excitement begins. Call Aimee at (218) 659-2839 to add Thursday to your agenda and ease into the weekend with a bit of peace and quiet.

FRIDAY

Check-in at the Lodge and dive into your welcome basket full of goodies that will help you navigate the weekend. After exploring your base camp a bit, head over to the [STREET] to meet some of the other sketchy individuals and enjoy some festivities. The first round of gameplay will take place Friday evening after everyone has had a chance to settle in and continue into Saturday morning. We guarantee you will become fast friends with the people you meet by the end of Friday night. Retire to the peace and quiet at your cabin for the night and enjoy some cozy time around the fire.

SATURDAY

Morning/Afternoon

Enjoy a relaxing morning and sleep as late as you like. The morning and afternoon are yours to do as you please with your cabin mates. This is your time to take advantage of some of the resort amenities, such as boat rental and trail walking. Don't forget to bring your fishing gear! Play yard games, sit by the fire, or hunt for clues (this is a murder mystery after all). A scavenger hunt and an escape room experience will be offered during this time that are both self-paced for your convenience.

Early evening

You and your team can head back to the town square to meet up with all the other guests for the second round of gameplay. It’s time to piece together everything we’ve learned and interrogate one another for the answers we crave.

SUNDAY

After a wild and Jimdandy weekend, we’ll all meet up at the town square for the last time to enjoy a hot brunch and discover who the guilty party is.
